Jeju decreased and Yeongnam increased...2025 season KLPGA competition 'Regional joy and sorrow'

Last year's Doosan Engineering & Construction Weave Championship, the Korean opener of the KLPGA tour, was held at Teddy Valley Golf & Resort in Seogwipo, Jeju. The Doosan Engineering & Construction Weave Championship will be held as the Korean opener of the KLPGA tour again this year, but the venue of the championship has changed to Dongnae Benest in Busan.

The schedule for the 2025 season of the KLPGA Tour has been confirmed. The season will end with the Blue Canyon Ladies Championship, which starts with the Blue Canyon Ladies Championship in Phuket, Thailand on March 13 and ends with the Daebo Housdi Open, which ends at Seowon Hills on November 9. The total prize money for 30 competitions will be around 32.5 billion won (30.217 million U.S. dollars). Although there was one less competition than the previous season and the total prize money decreased by about 700 million won (700,000 dollars), the average prize money was around 1.08 billion won (1.04 million dollars), a slight increase from the previous season.

An interesting change is that the number of Jeju competitions has decreased and the number of Yeongnam competitions has increased. This was largely due to the change of the venue of the Doosan Engineering & Construction Weave Championship from Jeju to Busan, the opening game in Korea. It is the first time since 2007 that the opening game in Korea has been held in Busan. From 2008 to last year, it was all held in Jeju.

The only Jeju competition that has been confirmed is the S-Oil Championship, which will be held in Elysian Jeju. The Jeju Samdasoo Masters, which has not been decided yet, is also likely to be held in Jeju. Previously, attempts were made to change the venue of the competition to the metropolitan area, but it failed due to strong opposition from the Jeju area. 메이저사이트

The number of Jeju competitions has been decreasing steadily over the past three years. In 2023 alone, six competitions were held, including the Lotte Rental Car Women's Open (Lotte Skyhill Jeju), the Ever Collagen and The Ciena Queens Crown (The Siena), the Jeju Samdasoo Masters (Blackstone Jeju), the Doosan Engineering & Construction Weave Championship (Teddy Valley), the SK Networks and the Seoul Economic Ladies Classic (Finx), and the S-Oil Championship (Elysian Jeju), but they were halved to three competitions last year: the Doosan Engineering & Construction Weave Championship (Teddy Valley), the Jeju Samdasoo Masters (Blackstone Jeju), and the S-Oil Championship (Elysian Jeju).

On the contrary, the number of competitions in the Yeongnam region has increased from two last year to three this year. The KLPGA Tour Yeongnam Series will be held for three consecutive weeks from the Doosan Engineering & Construction Weave Championship to the iM Financial Open (Shensan, Golf Zone County) and the Nexen and St. Nine Masters (Kaya).
